FEB USU, resource persons, and participants

The Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Sumatra Utara (FEB USU) successfully held a thought-provoking seminar and public lecture, entitled "Banking Prospects and Challenges in Global Uncertainty". The event, which took place in Medan on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 from 08.00 to 13.00 WIB, was held at the Hall of Prof. Dr. Hadibroto FEB USU, and sponsored by the Lembaga Penjamin SImpanan (LPS).

The opening ceremony was conducted by Dr. Amlys Syahputra Silalahi, SE., M.Si, who represented Dr. Fadli, SE., M.Si, Dean of FEB USU. He gave a speech and officially opened this event. The moderator of the event, Coki Ahmad Syahwier, an academic from FEB USU, then introduced the speakers and expressed his hope for Indonesia's domestic economic growth amid various global uncertainties.

Tony Noor Tiahiono from Bank Indonesia Institute explained the role of the Central Bank in maintaining financial system stability and the national economy. He highlighted macroprudential policy and monetary policy which are the main instruments in maintaining stability.

Meanwhile, Muhammad Yusron, Head of LPS Representative Office I of Lembaga Penjamin SImpanan, discussed the role of LPS in increasing depositor confidence amid global turbulence. Yusron emphasized the importance of the presence of LPS in building public trust in the banking system, especially in anticipating the risks that arise.

Andi Muhammad Yusuf from the Otoritas Jasa Keuangan (OJK) discussed the role of OJK in building banking resilience to face global challenges. He highlighted potential issues that might affect the global economy in 2024, and the need for banking sector resilience in dealing with them.

The event was then closed with a discussion and question-and-answer session attended by lecturers, academics, and FEB students from various universities in Medan City. The discussion provided a space for participants to exchange ideas and views related to the latest developments in the banking sector and the global economy.

This seminar and public lecture was attended by key stakeholders in academia and banking, and successfully became an inspiring forum for participants to deepen their understanding of banking challenges and prospects amid growing global uncertainty.
