Medan, Wednesday, August 5, 2026 — The Faculty of Economics and Business at Universitas Sumatera Utara (FEB USU) has once again achieved an accomplishment with two of its lecturers securing funding through the 2026 Indonesian Collaborative Community Service Program (Program Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat Kolaborasi Indonesia/PMKI). This achievement reflects FEB USU’s commitment to strengthening the implementation of the Three Pillars of Higher Education (Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi), particularly in the area of community service oriented toward addressing various social and sustainable development challenges through cross-institutional collaboration.

The Indonesian Collaborative Community Service Program (PMKI) is a community service scheme that encourages synergy among higher education institutions to generate innovations and solutions with a direct impact on communities. Through this program, lecturers are encouraged to develop knowledge-based community service initiatives that can improve community welfare, strengthen governance, and support regional development.

The FEB USU lecturers who successfully received PMKI funding in 2026 are as follows:

1. Dr. Abdillah Arif Nasution, S.E., M.Si., Ak., CA

Community Service Program Title:
Strengthening the Legality and Competitiveness of MSMEs through Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Facilitation and Halal Certification for MSMEs Assisted by the Riau Province UPT PLUT KUMKM.

This program aims to improve MSME competitiveness by strengthening business legality, protecting intellectual property, and facilitating halal certification, thereby expanding market access and increasing product added value.

2. Dr. Lasma Melinda Siahaan, S.E., M.Si.

Community Service Program Title:
Strengthening Village Apparatus Capacity in Disaster Mitigation, Adaptation, and Preparedness Archiving through Risk-Based Public Asset Management in Langkat Regency.

This program focuses on strengthening the capacity of village officials in risk-based public asset management to support more effective and sustainable disaster mitigation and preparedness efforts.

This achievement demonstrates that FEB USU lecturers continue to contribute to the development of community service programs that provide tangible benefits to society through collaborative and knowledge-based approaches. In addition to strengthening the role of higher education institutions as agents of change, these programs are expected to promote community empowerment, strengthen institutional capacity, and foster inclusive and sustainable development.

This achievement also supports the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) through human resource capacity building and knowledge transfer to communities, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through collaboration among higher education institutions and various stakeholders. Furthermore, the community service programs’ focus on MSME empowerment and strengthening community resilience also contributes to SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), and SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being).
