About Faculty Economics and Business
Universitas Sumatera Utara

The Faculty of Economics and Business was first established in Banda Aceh. In 1961, Universitas Sumatera Utara opened the Faculty of Economics in Medan. The opening stipulation was carried out by decree of the Minister of Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia No. 64/1961 dated November 24, 1961.

In 1975 the Medan Academy of Commercial Administration (AAN) was transferred to the Company (PPAP) based on the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia. No. 42/U/1975 dated March 13, 1975. Furthermore, based on the Decree of the Rector of USU Number 309/UN5.1.R/SK/KPM/2014 dated February 19, 2014, the Faculty of Economics was changed to the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB USU).

In connection with the reforms carried out in Higher Education with Decree. Director General of Higher Education No. 23/Dikti/Kep/1987, No. 26/Dikti/Kep/1987 and Decree of USU Rector No. 568/PTO5.H/SK/Q87 dated August 19, 1987, on September 14, 1987, a handover was held between the Director of Education for Company Administration Experts (PAP USU) to the Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Universitas Sumatera Utara. Since the handover, the name of the Company Administration Expert Education (PAAP USU) has changed to the Diploma III Program of the Faculty of Economics, Universitas Sumatera Utara.

Goal

  • Producing quality graduates capable of developing the science and application of economics and business based on morals, and religion, as well as being able to compete at the national and international levels;
  • Producing innovative research that encourages the development of science and the application of economics and business in the national and international scope;
  • Producing community service based on reasoning and research work that is useful in advancing the general welfare and educating the nation's life and empowering communities innovatively so that the community can solve problems independently and sustainably;
  • Realising adaptive, creative, and proactive independence from the demands of society and development challenges, both nationally and internationally;
  • Continuously improving the quality of learning management to achieve excellence in national and international competition and cooperation;
  • Become a moral and intellectual force in building an Indonesian civil society; and
  • Developing the potential of students to become human beings with faith and devotion to God Almighty as well as noble character, healthy, knowledgeable, capable, creative, independent, skilled, competent, and cultured for the nation's benefit.

Target

To achieve the goals that have been set based on the results of the Self Evaluation of the implementation of the 2020 - 2024 Strategic Plan, the strategic goals of FEB USU are described as follows:

  1. The development of a strong commitment to realize the vision;
  2. The development of a good university governance system that receives international recognition on an ongoing basis;
  3. The implementation of research and writing on the results of international cooperation and the acquisition of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) in various countries;
  4. Implementation of a world-class learning system rooted in improved local excellence;
  5. The creation of TALENTA-based academic excellence with international standards;
  6. The implementation of improved and integrated management based on information systems and information technology;
  7. The realization of a safe, comfortable, and healthy green campus as an academic home;
  8. The internalization of the BINTANG character in the entire academic community and education staff;
  9. Internalization of a culture of empathy and community service, and
  10. The creation of academicians and education personnel who are able to compete at a global level.

University Archive

Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) Library’s existence began as early as the establishment of Universitas Sumatera Utara on 20 August 1952. Until 2017, there were 13 University Libraries of Faculty Branches and Rumah Sakit USU Branch, which implemented integrated service with the University Library. The USU Library currently provides various services such as Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC), Journals, E-books, and USU Repository.

FEB USU Archive

Through an integrated system with the USU Library, FEB USU Archive provides a record collection of activities, reports, research, and incoming and outgoing mail by FEB USU. FEB USU Archive commits to storing faculty archives and providing the best services to the students, teaching staff, and the public.

Communal Space

A communal space is a place for students to sit and do various activities, such as studying together, having discussions, browsing the internet, doing assignments, and others. The location of the Communal Space is right behind Cafenomics (FEB Canteen).

Cafenomics (Canteen)

Cafenomics is the FEB cafeteria with an aesthetic interior and student-friendly prices. Cafenomics sells various types of food and drinks in the middle of FEB.

Aplikasi Satu Atap (ASA)

One-Stop Application (ASA)

ASA is an online correspondence administration service. This application makes it easier for students to manage their administration.

Area Parkir Kendaraan

Vehicle Parking Area

A vehicle parking area is provided to organize and safely park vehicles, both two-wheeled and four-wheeled. This parking area is equipped with road markings, traffic signs, and lighting systems to facilitate drivers' parking.

Ramp dan Parkir Disabilitas

Ramp and Disability Parking

Ramp and Disability Parking is a special parking area for people with disabilities and wheelchair users. Its design is disability-friendly, including ramps that facilitate wheelchair access, wider parking spaces, and wider distances between vehicles.

Smart Classroom

Smart Classroom

Smart Classroom is a class facilitated with SmartTV, Microphone, and AC. Lecture activities carried out in this class utilise this technology.

Transit Room

Transit Room

The transit room is located inside the FEB Dean's Office. This room is used as a waiting room for guests.

Laboratorium Komputer

Computer Laboratory

The Computer Laboratory is located on the 2nd and 3rd floors and can be utilised as a lecture facility for courses that require a computer.
