The Undergraduate Program in Development Economics, Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), underwent a field assessment conducted by the Independent Accreditation Agency for Economics, Management, Business, and Accounting (LAMEMBA) on January 20–21, 2025. The assessment took place at Prof. Dr. Suhadji Hadibroto Hall, FEB USU, and was attended by faculty leaders, lecturers, students, alumni, and stakeholders.

The assessment officially commenced with the welcoming of the assessors, Prof. Suyanto, Ph.D., Professor of Macroeconomics from Universitas Surabaya, and Prof. Dr. Apridar, S.E., M.Si., Professor at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Syiah Kuala. In his opening remarks, the Dean of FEB USU expressed appreciation for the assessors’ commitment and dedication in conducting a comprehensive evaluation of the Development Economics Undergraduate Program.

LAMEMBA serves as an independent accreditation body responsible for assessing and enhancing the quality of higher education programs in economics, management, business, and accounting. Established by leading professional organizations, including the Indonesian Economists Association (ISEI), the Indonesian Institute of Accountants (IAI), and the Association of Indonesian Faculties of Economics and Business (AFEBI), LAMEMBA plays a strategic role in promoting academic excellence and institutional quality.

During the assessment, the assessors conducted interviews with various stakeholders, including students, alumni, lecturers, and faculty leaders. These sessions evaluated the program’s compliance with LAMEMBA’s nine accreditation criteria, covering vision and mission, governance, student affairs, human resources, financial management, infrastructure, education, research, community service, and the implementation of the Tridharma of Higher Education.

According to Prof. Dr. Apridar, the field assessment was not only intended to evaluate the program’s achievements but also to provide strategic recommendations for continuous improvement in academic and administrative quality. He expressed appreciation for the openness and active participation demonstrated by the FEB USU academic community throughout the assessment process.

The field assessment is expected to become a strategic milestone in strengthening the quality of the Development Economics Undergraduate Program, supporting student competency development, and enhancing the implementation of education, research, and community service. FEB USU extends its sincere gratitude to the LAMEMBA assessors and all stakeholders involved for their professionalism and valuable contributions.

This activity reflects FEB USU’s commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, through continuous quality assurance, academic improvement, and the enhancement of higher education standards. Furthermore, it supports SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals by fostering collaboration among accreditation institutions, higher education stakeholders, alumni, students, and professional organizations in advancing sustainable and high-quality education.
