Medan– Lecturers of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FEB USU), carried out a Community Service activity through the FEB USU Pioneer Community Partnership Service Program by providing assistance in digitizing raw material inventory management and simple financial recording to Rilex Seafood Tanjung Pura, Langkat Regency, North Sumatra.
The activity, entitled “Assistance in Digitizing Raw Material Inventory Management and Simple Financial Recording to Improve the Business Management of Rilex Seafood Tanjung Pura,” was carried out by a team of FEB USU lecturers led by Haryaji Catur Putera Hasman, S.E., M.Si., together with members Muhammad Ananda Fakhri, S.E., M.M., Ayulita Ramadhani, M.Si., and Alwi Ihsan Nababan, S.E., M.M. The activity partnered with Rilex Seafood Tanjung Pura, located at Jl. Pajak Ikan Lama No. 84, Pekan Tanjung Pura, Tanjung Pura District, Langkat Regency.
The series of activities took place from July to December 2026 with two field visits. The first visit was conducted on July 23, 2026, and focused on initial observation, identification of partner needs, and aligning perceptions between the community service team and the person in charge and employees of Rilex Seafood Tanjung Pura.
The main activity was conducted on October 2, 2026, and was attended by 12 participants consisting of the person in charge of the business and employees of Rilex Seafood Tanjung Pura. During the activity, the team of lecturers provided assistance in raw material inventory management and simple financial recording tailored to the operational needs of the business.
In the aspect of inventory management, the assistance was directed at helping the partner record and monitor raw materials in a more structured manner. Meanwhile, in the aspect of financial recording, the team introduced the use of a simple cash register/POS as a means of helping record sales transactions in a more practical, systematic, and documented manner.
In addition to providing assistance, the community service team also handed over several supporting devices and materials to the partner, namely a cash register, Digital Menu QR Code plaque, Inventory Module, and Cash Register Module. The handover of these devices is expected to support the application of the knowledge and skills gained during the activity while encouraging the sustainable use of digital technology in the daily operations of Rilex Seafood Tanjung Pura.
Through this activity, Rilex Seafood Tanjung Pura is expected to improve its business management through more orderly inventory management, more systematic transaction recording, and the utilization of digital technology in daily operational activities. The implementation of the system is also expected to help the business owner obtain better information regarding inventory conditions and transactions, thereby supporting more effective business decision-making.
The activity concluded with the handover of supporting devices and a group documentation session involving the FEB USU community service team, the person in charge, and employees of Rilex Seafood Tanjung Pura. This activity forms part of FEB USU's contribution to transferring knowledge and skills to the community while strengthening partnerships between higher education institutions and business actors. This effort is in line with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 4: Quality Education, through strengthening knowledge and skills based on community needs, as well as SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, through sustainable collaboration between FEB USU and business partners in promoting the development of digital-based business management.
