Medan – The Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FEB USU), is organizing the International Summer Course 2026 under the theme “From Local Heritage to Global Opportunities: Sustainable Business and Economic Development in North Sumatra.” The program takes place on October 30–31, 2026, highlighting the potential of local heritage as a foundation for business opportunities and sustainable economic development in North Sumatra.

Through this program, participants are introduced to the cultural richness and regional potential of North Sumatra while exploring their relevance to sustainable business development. One of the key activities is a field trip to the Lake Toba area and the TB Silalahi Museum, providing participants with firsthand learning experiences about local cultural heritage, tourism potential, and opportunities for regional economic development.

The visits to Lake Toba and the TB Silalahi Museum offer participants contextual learning experiences beyond the classroom. In addition to introducing the cultural and historical richness of North Sumatra, these activities encourage participants to understand the importance of preserving local heritage while utilizing its potential to support regional economic growth.

The International Summer Course 2026 reflects FEB USU's commitment to supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) through interactive and experiential learning opportunities, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through strengthened collaboration and knowledge exchange in advancing education and sustainable economic development.

Through this program, FEB USU hopes to broaden participants' perspectives, deepen their understanding of local potential, and foster a global outlook in identifying business opportunities and promoting sustainable economic development, particularly in North Sumatra.
