Medan – The Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FEB USU), held a benchmarking meeting with Universitas Al-Azhar Medan on the implementation of the Outcome-Based Education (OBE) curriculum on Wednesday, October 28, 2026. The meeting took place in the FEB USU Meeting Room on the second floor as part of efforts to enhance higher education quality and explore opportunities for inter-university collaboration.

The meeting followed Universitas Al-Azhar Medan’s request for a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) and benchmarking activities related to OBE curriculum implementation. Participants included heads and secretaries of study programs at FEB USU, representing undergraduate, master's, and doctoral programs in Development Economics, Management, Accounting, Entrepreneurship, and Islamic Economics.

The benchmarking meeting provided an opportunity for both institutions to exchange experiences and broaden their understanding of OBE curriculum implementation, which emphasizes student learning outcomes. Through this approach, curriculum development is expected to become more focused on supporting students in achieving the competencies required by the workplace and evolving professional environments.

This initiative aligns with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education, particularly in supporting improvements in higher education quality, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, through strengthened institutional collaboration and knowledge exchange between educational institutions.

Through this benchmarking initiative, FEB USU hopes to further strengthen its institutional relationship with Universitas Al-Azhar Medan and create opportunities for sustainable collaboration to support continuous improvement in higher education quality.
