The Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FEB USU), in collaboration with the Indonesia Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS), successfully held the LPS Call for Research 2025 Socialization, a strategic initiative aimed at enhancing academic contributions to national financial policy formulation.
As an annual program since 2019/2020, LPS Call for Research provides opportunities for academics, including lecturers and students, to conduct research that strengthens the financial sector. This year, the program also highlights policy guarantee-related sub-themes, a new mandate for LPS following the enactment of the Financial Sector Development and Strengthening Law (UU P2SK).
The Dean of FEB USU, Dr. Fadli, S.E., M.Si., expressed his appreciation for this program as a collaborative effort that enables academics to play an active role in shaping better financial policies. According to him, LPS Call for Research is an effective platform for optimizing LPS's role in maintaining the stability of Indonesia's financial system.
A similar sentiment was shared by Muhamad Yusron, Head of LPS Representative Office 1, who emphasized that LPS is not only a deposit insurance institution but also part of the Financial System Stability Committee (KSSK), alongside Bank Indonesia (BI), the Financial Services Authority (OJK), and the Ministry of Finance, in preventing and handling potential economic crises. He also introduced LPS Representative Office 1 in Medan, one of three LPS regional offices in Indonesia responsible for the Sumatra region.
In the presentation session, Seto Wardono, Director of LPS Research Group, explained the various opportunities available for academics in LPS Call for Research 2025. He mentioned that participants who submit abstracts before June 25, 2025, will receive coaching sessions in July 2025 to improve their research quality.
Additionally, LPS has categorized research proposals into two types, general category and special category that reserved for experienced researchers to ensure a more optimal selection process and avoid mixing with younger researchers or students.
Meiti Sulistika, Head of the LPS Primary Research Specialist Division, provided a step-by-step tutorial on registering for the program to facilitate the registration process.
The event was attended by 250 participants, including lecturers and students from 23 universities in Medan. The high enthusiasm was evident in the interactive discussion session, where participants had the opportunity to engage directly with LPS representatives about the institution's role, duties, and functions in maintaining Indonesia's financial system stability.
With the successful execution of this event, collaboration between academics and LPS is expected to be further strengthened, ensuring that research outcomes contribute meaningfully to supporting national financial policy.
For academics interested in participating in LPS Call for Research 2025, abstract submissions are open until June 25, 2025.
