This activity was conducted as part of the efforts of the Undergraduate Program in Management, FEB USU, to evaluate and develop its curriculum to ensure continued relevance to the dynamics of the workforce and developments in the business environment. Changing industry needs require higher education institutions to ensure that graduates possess not only academic knowledge but also the competencies, skills, and professional abilities required by the world of work.

The activity began with a presentation on the curriculum of the Undergraduate Program in Management, FEB USU, delivered by the Secretary of the Undergraduate Program in Management. This was followed by a discussion session with representatives of institutions and companies. During the session, external stakeholders shared their input and perspectives on changing workforce needs, the competencies required of graduates, and the alignment of the curriculum with professional and industry demands.
Through this discussion, the Undergraduate Program in Management, FEB USU, received input that can serve as a basis for strengthening and refining its curriculum. Industry involvement is an important part of the educational evaluation process, as it provides direct perspectives on the competencies required in the workplace. Accordingly, curriculum development is expected to become more adaptive to changes in the business world and support improvements in graduate quality.
In addition to serving as a forum for academic evaluation, this FGD was also a step toward strengthening communication and cooperation between the Undergraduate Program in Management, FEB USU, and industry and relevant institutions. Moving forward, these relationships are expected to be developed through various forms of collaboration, including educational activities, internship programs, student competency development, and the implementation of the Three Pillars of Higher Education (Tridharma Perguruan Tinggi).
As a follow-up, the Undergraduate Program in Management, FEB USU, will analyze the input received from stakeholders, identify competencies that need to be strengthened, and use the discussion outcomes as considerations for curriculum improvement. The study program also seeks to strengthen communication and cooperation with institutions and companies to improve the relevance of learning to the needs of the professional world.

The FGD on Aligning the Curriculum with Industry-Based Competencies supports SDG 4: Quality Education, particularly through efforts to improve the relevance of higher education to workforce needs and develop student competencies to better prepare them for professional challenges. The activity also contributes to SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals by strengthening collaboration between higher education institutions and industry in curriculum evaluation and development. The involvement of external stakeholders is expected to foster sustainable partnerships that support improvements in educational quality and graduate competencies.
Through this activity, the Undergraduate Program in Management, FEB USU, reaffirms its commitment to continuously improving educational quality through curriculum development that is adaptive, relevant, and responsive to industry needs. Synergy between higher education institutions and the world of work is expected to provide a foundation for producing competent and professional graduates who can contribute to addressing developments and challenges in the business world.
