The undergraduate economic development study program at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FEB USU), held a Journal Article Writing boot camp on 21-22 June 2024 at Mariana Hotel, Samosir. This activity aimed to improve lecturers' skills in writing articles that meet international journal standards, especially those indexed by Scopus.
This boot camp includes intensive training on scientific article writing techniques, journal selection, and strategies for dealing with the review and revision process. The resource person, Assoc. Prof. Dr Roil Bilad, provided technical guidance on topics ranging from article structure to responding to reviewer feedback.
The event was attended by 27 lecturers from the FEB USU Economics Development Study Program. They attended the opening, material presentation, discussion, and interactive session to deepen their understanding of scientific publications.
The main objective of this activity is to help lecturers increase the number and quality of globally recognised scientific publications. Through publications in reputable journals, research from Indonesian academics is expected to gain wider visibility and increase credibility at the international level.
The boot camp took place over two days, from Friday to Saturday, 21-22 June 2024, at the Mariana Hotel, Samosir, which provided a conducive atmosphere for in-depth training.
The activities began with the opening and continued with three main sessions: Scopus standard article writing techniques, non-predatory journal selection, and publication tips in international journals. The activity ended with a question-and-answer session and a group photo as a closing.
This activity is expected to encourage lecturers to produce quality scientific articles and contribute to improving the economic development study program's academic reputation in the global arena.
