Carrying the theme “Future-Ready Cities & Sustainable Assets: Innovation for a Smarter Built Environment”, this international congress brought together professionals, academics, researchers, industry practitioners, policymakers, and stakeholders from various fields to discuss the development of sustainable, resilient, and future-ready cities.

Prof. Dr. Khaira Amalia Fachrudin participated as a speaker in Plenary Session 2: “Sustainable Infrastructure & Green Investment in the ESG Era”, presenting a paper entitled “Sustainable Investment in the ESG Era in Indonesia”. The session discussed sustainable investment issues in the context of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG), which is one of the important agendas in promoting sustainable development and asset management.
In the same session, Prof. Khaira appeared alongside several international academics and practitioners, including Prof. Peddy Pi Ying Lai from National Pingtung University, Taiwan, as well as professionals in the fields of construction, property, and asset management. Prof. Khaira's participation as a speaker further strengthened the contribution of Universitas Sumatera Utara academics to an international forum discussing strategic issues related to sustainable investment and ESG.

Prof. Khaira's participation in the international forum also formed part of the contribution of the Undergraduate Program in Management of FEB USU to broadening academic perspectives and strengthening international networks in the fields of management, finance, investment, and sustainable development. The speaker profile in the official ISC 2026 program listed Prof. Khaira as a professor in finance at Universitas Sumatera Utara.
Supporting the Achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals
The participation of Prof. Dr. Khaira Amalia Fachrudin as a speaker at this international congress is in line with the commitment of Universitas Sumatera Utara and the Undergraduate Program in Management to supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly:
SDG 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities
Discussions on future-ready cities, urban resilience, sustainable infrastructure development, and sustainability-oriented asset management are closely related to efforts to create inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable cities and human settlements. ISC 2026 specifically highlighted the importance of integrating sustainable infrastructure, innovation, and urban planning in addressing the challenges of urbanization.
SDG 13 – Climate Action
The congress also focused on climate change challenges through discussions on climate resilience, green investment, renewable energy, ESG, as well as sustainable development and asset management. Academic contributions in discussing sustainable investment in the ESG era are an important part of encouraging decision-making that is more responsive to climate change risks and challenges.
The participation of Prof. Dr. Khaira Amalia Fachrudin in the 28th International Surveyors’ Congress 2026 is a proud achievement for FEB USU, while also demonstrating the active role of the academic community in international forums and in advancing knowledge that supports sustainable urban development and climate action.
