The undergraduate management study program of the Faculty of Economics and Business of Universitas Sumatera Utara's efforts to provide international student internship opportunities has paid off. From June 10 to September 10, 2024, four students of the undergraduate management study program carried out international internships at the Center for IMT-GT Subregional Cooperation (CIMT) Malaysia.

CIMT is the central secretariat of IMT-GT (Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand—Growth Triangle), which will support the National Secretariats of Member Countries in preparing and organizing official meetings, such as the Leaders' Summit, Ministerial Meetings, Senior Officials Meetings, and Working Group Meetings.

The internship program allows interns to learn best practices in regional cooperation, expand professional networks, and gain relevant work experience in subregional development. The ultimate goal is to help support inclusive and sustainable economic growth in the IMT-GT region.

The four students involved in this program are Maghvira Naomi, Patrick Yong, Thania Mardhatillah, and Ester Mulyani Sihombing. They get hands-on experience in working in a professional environment. The Head of the undergraduate management study program of FEB USU, Prof. Dr. Khaira Amalia Fachrudin, SE. Ak., MBA, CA, MAPPI (Cert), who visited them in Putrajaya, Malaysia, on July 7, 2024, advised students to maintain the good name of the alma mater during the internship and always maintain health and cohesiveness.

One of the students of the undergraduate management program of FEB USU, Maghvira Naomi, said that the most memorable experiences during the IMT-GT internship program included joining the Project Coordinator Division, which was directly involved in the process and preparation of events and official meetings and participating in attending an official meeting of one of the working groups with representatives of 3 countries, namely Indonesia Malaysia and Thailand. The internship program at CIMT has some requirements, namely an achievement index of 3 and proficiency in English. Naomi also said other requirements, including good academic abilities and motivation to participate in this program, must be met.
