Medan, August 3, 2026 – The leaders of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FEB USU), along with all Heads of Study Programs at the undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels, participated in the Socialization on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Recognition of Learning Programs Outside Study Programs (PLPS) for the Odd Semester of the 2026/2027 Academic Year, organized by the Directorate of Educational Development of Universitas Sumatera Utara.

The activity was conducted as a follow-up to the Letter of the Directorate of Educational Development of Universitas Sumatera Utara Number 19103/UN5/Dir/DitPP/HK.10.00/2026 dated July 24, 2026, regarding the Socialization of SDGs and Recognition of Learning Programs Outside Study Programs (PLPS) for the Odd Semester of the 2026/2027 Academic Year. The socialization aimed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the implementation of Learning Programs Outside Study Programs (PLPS) while encouraging the integration of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) principles into higher education management.

During the event, participants received explanations regarding the implementation mechanism of the Recognition of Learning Programs Outside Study Programs (PLPS), including course recognition processes, curriculum alignment, and academic administration management. This policy is expected to support a more flexible, adaptive, and collaborative learning system, providing students with broader opportunities to develop competencies in accordance with the needs of the professional world and the advancement of knowledge.

In addition to discussing the implementation of PLPS, the socialization also emphasized the importance of integrating Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into the implementation of the Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi (Three Pillars of Higher Education), including education, research, and community service. Through this approach, study programs are encouraged to incorporate sustainable development values into academic activities as part of efforts to improve the quality of higher education.

Through this activity, it is expected that the leaders and Heads of Study Programs within FEB USU will gain a shared understanding of the Recognition of Learning Programs Outside Study Programs policy and be able to implement it optimally within their respective study programs. This shared understanding will support the development of a more innovative, high-quality, and sustainable learning system aligned with the educational development policies of Universitas Sumatera Utara.

FEB USU’s active participation in this activity reflects the faculty’s commitment to supporting the implementation of university academic policies and strengthening sustainable higher education quality. The activity also contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) through improving the quality of learning processes, SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure) through strengthening innovation in educational systems, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through collaboration between the Directorate of Educational Development of Universitas Sumatera Utara and faculties in realizing excellent and globally competitive higher education
