The speakers of the activity included IFG Progress Senior Research Associate, Mr. Ibrahim Kholilul Rohman, and IFG Progress Research Associate, Mr. Rizky Rizaldi Ronaldo and Ms. Nada Serpina.
"Insurance coverage in Indonesia is still low, we are not introduced to insurance early on so there are still many who do not understand the importance of insurance, and this mindset must be changed" said Mr. Ibrahim conveying the condition of insurance literacy in Indonesia. In his presentation he also said that to support Indonesia's goal of becoming the world's five largest economies, the government is now prioritizing the development of the insurance industry and pension funds.
Mr. Rizky Rizaldi Ronaldo continued the presentation in the second session about insurance. He conveyed how insurance plays a role in protecting individuals from various risks. "From the COVID-19 pandemic case yesterday, we learned how much medical expenses are if there is no insurance protection," Rizky explained the importance of insurance in providing health protection.
The third session presentation was continued by Mrs. Nada Sepira who discussed the Retirement Fund. "Friends will face financial cycles and feel a surplus of income in productive times, but you must realize that in old age and no longer productive, expenses will be greater. Here lies the important role of pension funds," said the speaker who is familiarly called Nada, explaining the importance of pension funds.
In the question and answer session there was a heated discussion in an effort to support the insurance industry and increase public confidence in insurance. Currently, an optimal business model is being developed to advance the financial and insurance industry. Insurance must indeed be more credible to increase public confidence in insurance and risk management.
Dr. Syafrizal Helmi Situmorang, S.E., M.Si., closed the seminar delivery session and public lecture by conveying the conclusions of the seminar. It takes collaboration and cooperation to build literacy towards insurance and pension funds. Contributing our thoughts on insurance and pension funds can also help in building literacy and hopefully can be utilized for a better Indonesia.
