The undergraduate economic development study program of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FEB USU), held an ‘Alumni Talk and Preparation of Students for Entering the Workforce’ event at Mikie Wijaya, 2nd floor, FEB USU. This event aimed to equip students with the insight, inspiration, and skills needed to face the workforce.

This Alumni Talk event brings together alumni from various fields to share experiences and insights related to preparing for entering the world of work. The alumni provide material on the challenges and opportunities in the world of work and practical guidance on the recruitment process, interview preparation, and soft skills development.

One hundred students from the FEB USU undergraduate economic development study program attended this event. The Rupiah Development Team (PUR) also delivered the socialisation material ‘Cinta, Bangga, Paham Rupiah.’ In addition, alumni Yura Djalins and Novi Djalins also attended as keynote speakers to share experiences and career insights.

This activity aims to bridge the gap between academic theory and practice in the workplace. Through this event, students are expected to prepare better to face competition in the global job market by understanding industry trends and market needs relevant to their field of study.

The activity occurred on Friday, 14 June 2024, from 2:00 PM to 4:45 PM, at Mikie Wijaya, 2nd floor, FEB USU. The events began with remarks from the Secretary of the undergraduate economic development study program, followed by a socialisation session from the PUR Team and material exposure by alumni. The event was closed with an interactive question and answer session between students and alumni, allowing students to get guidance directly from practitioners in the field.

By holding this event, it is hoped that students will be better prepared to face the workforce with relevant skills and knowledge and gain a realistic picture of career journeys in various fields.
