The economic of development Study Program of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FEB USU) held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with the theme ‘Understanding the Vision and Mission of the Study Program for Stakeholders’ in Prof. Dr. Suhadji Hadibroto Hall
The economic of development Study Program of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FEB USU) held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with the theme ‘Understanding the Vision and Mission of the Study Program for Stakeholders’ in Prof. Dr. Suhadji Hadibroto Hall. This activity aims to align the vision and mission of the study program with the expectations and needs of various stakeholders, including lecturers, students, alumni, and industry representatives.
This FGD is a forum for discussion between the campus and stakeholders regarding the vision and mission of the Economic Development Study Program. During the discussion session, various constructive inputs were delivered by representatives from financial institutions, industry, government, and alumni regarding curriculum improvement and student skills. The discussion also touched on the need for soft skills development, foreign language mastery, and the importance of leadership character for graduates.
This activity was attended by 71 participants consisting of stakeholders from the government sector, banking, telecommunications industry, alumni, as well as representatives of students and lecturers of FEB USU. Plt. Inggrita Gusti Sari Nasution, SE, M.Si, delivered the opening remarks and explained the vision and mission that guide the study program in supporting competent and competitive graduates.
In facing global competition, universities must continue to improve the relevance of their study programs. Therefore, this FGD was held so that the vision and mission of the study program can be understood and fully supported by stakeholders, and is able to reflect the needs of industry and society.
This activity took place on Saturday, 24 August 2024, from 9 AM to 12 PM at Prof. Dr. Suhadji Hadibroto Hall, FEB USU, Medan.
The input obtained included recommendations from OJK regarding the importance of statistical skills for data analysis, suggestions from BI for the addition of foreign languages other than English, and suggestions from IDX regarding improving investment skills for students. In addition, Telkomsel alumni emphasized the importance of big data and communication skills, while local governments suggested improving planning and problem-solving skills for graduates.
This FGD activity is expected to strengthen the cooperation relationship between FEB USU and stakeholders, as well as become the basis for developing a relevant curriculum and producing quality graduates according to the needs of the labor market.
