The 2025 Econometrics Workshop, themed “Big Data Analytics for Economics and Business,” will take place on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at Prof. Dr. Suhadji Hadibroto Hall, featuring Prof. Rezzy Eko Caraka as the keynote speaker.

The Undergraduate Program in Development Economics at the Faculty of Economics and Business of Universitas Sumatera Utara (FEB USU), reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing students' data analysis capabilities by organizing the Econometrics Workshop 2025, themed "Big Data Analytics for Economics and Business", held on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at the Prof. Dr. Suhadji Hadibroto Hall.

This workshop addressed the growing need for technical competencies among economics students amid the rapid digital transformation and the rise of big data. Students today are expected to understand economic theories conceptually and apply econometric methods practically using advanced data analytics tools. The session introduced students to big data processing and its application in solving contemporary economic and business problems.
The workshop featured Prof. Rezzy Eko Caraka, S.Si., M.Sc(RES), Ph.D., a researcher at the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN)—Centre for Data and Information Science. He delivered an in-depth presentation on data science applications in empirical economic analysis and provided hands-on training in using econometrics software such as R Studio and analytic approaches aligned with current labor market needs.

Participants included students from various programs, such as Undergraduate Programs in Development Economics, Management, and Accounting. In addition to conceptual materials, students engaged in interactive discussions and practical exercises to refine their technical skills. The workshop content was also relevant for thesis writing, scientific research, and preparing for careers that require strong data literacy.

The event aimed to equip students with a comprehensive understanding of integrating economic theory with big data analytical techniques—aligning with FEB USU's vision of producing academically excellent graduates ready to face global challenges with strong analytical and adaptive skills.

The Econometrics Workshop 2025 served as a strategic initiative to bridge the gap between academia and real-world industry needs, reinforcing FEB USU's role as a forward-thinking institution that embraces curriculum innovation and technology-driven education.
