Undergraduate Program (S-1)

The Undergraduate Program in Accounting of Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) was established in 1961, making it one of the oldest study programs in the university. The curriculum of this program covers accounting principles, financial bookkeeping, financial reporting, auditing, and other financial aspects. The main objective of this program is to train students to manage financial information accurately, understand accounting laws and regulations, and develop analytical skills in financial decision-making.

The vision of the Undergraduate Program in Accounting is to be excellent in the fields of Social Planning and Development Consultants, Social Research, and Community Empowerment towards the global level. Graduates of the Undergraduate Program in Accounting have broad career prospects in various sectors such as Auditing, Financial Consulting, Financial Management, and Risk Management. With strong analytical skills, they can assist companies and organizations as accountants or financial consultants. Students who complete this study program will be awarded a Bachelor of Economics (S.E.) degree.

History

1952

Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) was established by the Universitet Sumatera Utara Foundation on June 4, 1952, spearheaded by the Governor of North Sumatera.

1957

On November 20, 1957, USU was opened by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Dr. Ir. Soekarno. USU became the seventh state university in Indonesia. After being regularized in 1959, the Faculty of Engineering in Medan and the Faculty of Economics in Kutaradja (Banda Aceh) were opened, which were festively opened by the President of the Republic of Indonesia.

1961

The USU Faculty of Economics, located in Kuta Raja, became part of Universitas Syiah Kuala, Banda Aceh, so in 1961, the USU Faculty of Economics was established in Medan. The opening of the USU Faculty of Economics in Medan was stipulated by the Decree of the Minister of Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia Number 64 of 1961, dated November 24, 1961. The USU Faculty of Economics consists of three study programs: economic development, management and accounting.

1975

In 1975, the Medan Academy of Commercial Administration (AAN) was transferred to the Faculty of Economics of the Universitas Sumatera Utara to become the Education of Company Administration Experts (PAAP) based on the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia No. 42/U/1975 dated March 13, 1975. Furthermore, based on the Decree of the Rector of USU Number: 309/UN5.1.R/SK/KPM/2014 dated February 19, 2014, the name of the Faculty of Economics was changed to the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) USU.

1987

In connection with the reforms carried out in Higher Education with the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education No.23/Dikti/Kep/1987, No.26/Dikti/Kep/1987 and Decree of the USU Rector No.568/PTO5.H/SK/Q87 dated August 19, 1987, on September 14, 1987, a handover was held between the Director of Pendidikan Ahli Adsministrasi Perusahaan (PAAP) USU to the Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Universitas Sumatera Utara. Since the handover, the name of Pendidikan Ahli Adsministrasi Perusahaan (PAAP) USU has changed to the Faculty of Economics, Universitas Sumatera Utara diploma program.

2012

Based on Law No.12 of 2012 concerning Higher Education Article 97 letter c dated August 10, 2012, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) was designated as a State-Owned Legal Entity College (PTN-BH), which previously based on Government Regulation No.56 of 2003, dated November 11, 2003 USU was a State-Owned Legal Entity College (PTN-BH) providing flexibility to USU to face increasingly competitive challenges, which need to be understood and overcome with a visionary perspective and supported by the ability to formulate strategic steps through the establishment of the USU Strategic Plan 2015-2019.
