MEDAN – Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), through the Directorate of Innovation and Learning Development and Integration (DITP3I) USU, will organize the USU Menulis Series V Workshop with the theme “Reference Management & Plagiarism Prevention.” This activity is one of the efforts to improve the competence of the academic community in scientific writing, particularly in proper reference management and the implementation of academic integrity in producing scientific works.
The workshop will feature two speakers from within USU, namely Dr. Rony Abdi Syahputra, S.Farm., M.Farm. from the Faculty of Pharmacy, who will serve as the speaker on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, and Faiz Albar Nasution, S.I.P., M.Sos. from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, who will serve as the speaker on Wednesday, September 23, 2026. Both sessions will be held starting at 9:00 a.m. WIB until completion at the DITP3I USU Hall, Jl. Universitas No. 8–10, Medan.
Through this activity, participants are expected to gain a better understanding and skills in managing reference sources, systematically preparing scientific works, and understanding steps to prevent plagiarism. Thus, this workshop is expected to contribute to strengthening an academic culture with integrity and supporting the improvement of the quality of scientific works at Universitas Sumatera Utara.
The USU Menulis Series V Workshop is also in line with efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure) through strengthening the innovation and knowledge ecosystem, SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through collaboration and knowledge sharing among academic units, and SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) through the development of human resource competencies and capacities.
