Thesis and Dissertation Writing Workshop 2025 Strengthens Graduate Research Capacity
The Master’s and Doctoral Program in Accounting Science, Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FEB USU), organized the Thesis and Dissertation Writing Workshop 2025 on October 18, 2025, at Prof. Dr. Suhadji Hadibroto Hall, FEB USU. The event featured Dr. Saidatunnur Fauzi Saidin from Universiti Putra Malaysia as the keynote speaker and was moderated by Dr. Agung Wahyudhi Atmanegara, S.E., M.Si.
The workshop was designed to enhance graduate students’ ability to produce high-quality, relevant, and impactful theses and dissertations that contribute to scientific advancement and the resolution of socio-economic challenges. Through expert presentations and academic discussions, participants gained insights into research proposal development, appropriate research methodologies, and scientific writing techniques aligned with international academic standards.
The event served as an important platform for strengthening students’ research competencies, critical thinking skills, and ability to produce evidence-based studies that can support policymaking and sustainable development initiatives. The participation of an academic expert from Universiti Putra Malaysia also provided valuable opportunities for international knowledge exchange and exposure to current global research trends.
The Thesis and Dissertation Writing Workshop 2025 reflects FEB USU’s commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) through the enhancement of higher education quality and research capacity development. The workshop also contributes to SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by fostering academic collaboration between Universitas Sumatera Utara and Universiti Putra Malaysia.
Furthermore, strengthened research capacity is expected to generate innovative solutions and policy recommendations that contribute to poverty reduction (SDG 1), food security improvement (SDG 2), and better health and well-being (SDG 3). In this way, high-quality research can create meaningful impacts not only in academia but also in society and sustainable development efforts.
Through this initiative, FEB USU continues to demonstrate its commitment to fostering an excellent, collaborative, and sustainability-oriented academic environment at both national and international levels.
