Tax Accounting Concentration Seminar Enhances Students’ Understanding of Taxation Practices and Regulations

The Master of Accounting Program, Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FEB USU), organized a Tax Accounting Concentration Seminar on May 17, 2025, at Prof. Dr. Suhadji Hadibroto Hall, FEB USU. The seminar featured Dr. Asen Susanto, S.E., M.Si., Ak., CA., CPA., Cert IPSAS., CTP and Melani, S.E., M.Si., BKP as speakers, while Dr. Rini Austrindaneysi N. Azhra, S.E., M.Si., CPA served as moderator.

The seminar aimed to broaden students’ understanding of current taxation regulations, professional practices in the field of taxation, and the challenges associated with implementing tax policies in Indonesia. Through expert presentations and interactive discussions, participants gained deeper insights into the strategic role of tax accounting in promoting sound financial governance and tax compliance.

The event also provided an opportunity for students to connect theoretical concepts learned in the classroom with real-world professional practices. The participation of both academics and taxation practitioners offered diverse perspectives that enriched students’ knowledge and strengthened their readiness to pursue careers in accounting and taxation.

This seminar aligns with the Faculty’s commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) through the enhancement of learning quality and professional competency development in taxation. The involvement of academics and practitioners also supports SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange between higher education institutions and the professional sector.

Through academic activities that emphasize competency development and practical relevance, FEB USU continues to prepare graduates who are highly skilled, adaptable, and capable of contributing to sustainable economic development and effective governance.
