The 25th National Accounting Symposium (SNA XXV) in Kendari served as a platform for academics to respond to the evolving challenges of the accounting profession in the digital era, with active participation from Universitas Sumatera Utara.
The 25th National Accounting Symposium (SNA XXV) was held on September 7–9, 2022, in Kendari as an academic forum bringing together scholars and practitioners to discuss the development of the accounting profession amid digital transformation. The event provided a platform for presenting research findings and exchanging ideas relevant to the evolving role of accountants in Indonesia.
A delegation from the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Sumatera Utara participated in the event, consisting of Dr. Rina Br. Bukit, S.E., M.Si., Ak., CA; Prof. Erlina, S.E., M.Si., Ph.D., Ak., CA, CMA; Dr. Narumondang Bulan Siregar, M.M., Ak., CA; Dio Agung Herubawa, S.E., M.Acc; Dr. Syafruddin Ginting Sugihen, S.E., MAFIS, Ak, CPA, CA; and Dr. Keulana Erwin, S.E., M.Si., Ak. The delegation actively participated in the full series of academic activities throughout the symposium.
During the event, participants attended poster exhibitions and parallel sessions featuring various research topics, including qualitative analyses of accountant behavior, accountability practices in traditional communities, as well as studies related to auditing, the banking sector, and credit restructuring during the COVID-19 pandemic. Discussions also covered the development of Professional Accounting Education toward a Computer-Based Examination system as part of enhancing professional certification standards, as well as the implementation of the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka policy in accounting education.
In the parallel sessions, Prof. Erlina served as a reviewer, providing evaluation and feedback on the papers presented by participants, reflecting the active contribution of academics in maintaining the quality of national scientific forums
On the second day, the event continued with the official opening ceremony and a panel discussion addressing the opportunities and challenges of the accounting profession in the digital era toward a sustainable developed Indonesia. The discussion emphasized the importance of adapting to technological advancements and evolving industry demands.
The third day featured a meeting of the Accounting Educators Compartment of the Indonesian Institute of Accountants, focusing on strengthening the role of academics in advancing accounting education in Indonesia. The event concluded with a cultural tour organized by the committee.
Through participation in SNA XXV, it is expected to strengthen the contribution of academics in the development of accounting knowledge and enhance the readiness of the accounting profession in facing the challenges of the digital era.
