The Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) at Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) welcomed a work visit from the Rector of USU, Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si., on Friday, January 17, 2025. The visit was conducted as part of the university’s 2025 work program and as an evaluation of the institution’s performance achievements throughout 2024. The event took place at the FEB Hall and was attended by university leaders, faculty management, lecturers, and educational staff.

During the visit, the Rector delivered a presentation entitled “Improving the Performance of USU’s Tridharma Duties in 2025.” The presentation outlined the university’s strategic policy directions, particularly regarding the transformation of higher education to contribute more significantly to socio-economic development. Key priorities included strengthening cross-sector collaboration, fostering innovation in research and community service, and enhancing the role of higher education institutions in supporting sustainable development.

Several vice rectors also presented updates in their respective areas. Vice Rector III, Prof. Dr. Poppy Anjelisa Zaitun Hasibuan, S.Si., M.Si., Apt., shared information on FEB’s achievements in research and community service throughout 2024. Vice Rector I, Dr. Edy Ikhsan, S.H., M.A., represented by the Directorate of Educational Development, presented the 2025 strategic plan focusing on improving academic quality and student development. Meanwhile, Vice Rector II, Dr. Muhammad Arifin Nasution, S.Sos., M.SP., provided updates regarding proposals for faculty functional position promotions as part of efforts to strengthen human resource development within the faculty.

An interactive discussion session between participants and university leaders became a significant part of the event, generating valuable insights and recommendations to strengthen FEB’s contribution in supporting USU’s vision as a world-class university. The visit served as an important momentum to enhance synergy between the faculty and university leadership in advancing education, research, and community service.

This activity reflects FEB USU’s commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, through continuous efforts to improve academic quality, research excellence, and human resource development. Furthermore, the event aligns with SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals by strengthening collaboration and institutional synergy between university and faculty stakeholders in achieving sustainable educational development and societal impact.
