Dean, Together with the Resource Persons of Citation Training for Scientific Work Publications

On Friday, June 28, 2024, the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) held a Citation Training for Scientific Work Publication in Prof. Dr. Suhadji Hadibroto Hall. This training began at 09.00 AM and was attended by lecturers from the faculty. The event presented Mr. Muhammad Dharma Tuah Putra Nasution as a resource person known as an Ad Hoc Reviewer of several leading international journals.


In this training, Mr. Muhammad Dharma Tuah Putra Nasution shared various tips and tricks on how to write scientific papers that can be accepted in Scopus-indexed journals. He emphasized the importance of choosing relevant and actual topics in economics and business. He also explained the importance of a strong and valid research methodology and provided examples of methodologies commonly used in economic and business research.


Mr. Muhammad Dharma Tuah Putra Nasution also emphasized the importance of following a standardized and clear writing structure, including writing abstracts, introductions, literature reviews, methods, results, and discussions. He provided guidance on how to select journals that are appropriate to the research topic, reputable, and Scopus-indexed. In addition, strategies for effective citation were discussed, emphasizing the importance of referring to relevant and recent literature to strengthen the arguments in the paper.


The main objective of this training is to improve lecturers' ability to write and publish scientific papers, increasing the number of Scopus-indexed publications from the USU Faculty of Economics and Business. With the increasing number of quality publications, the reputation of the faculty and university is expected to improve internationally.
The participants welcomed this training and claimed to have gained much new knowledge and insights useful for future research. The USU Faculty of Economics and Business is committed to continuing to hold similar training to improve the quality and quantity of scientific publications from lecturers.


This Scientific Publication Citation Training is a concrete step from the USU Faculty of Economics and Business to support and encourage its lecturers to be more productive in writing and publishing scientific papers. With experienced speakers and relevant materials, it is hoped that lecturers can produce quality publications and be recognized at the international level.
