The Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Sumatra Utara, signed a memorandum of agreement with the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia (KJRI) Johor Bahru in the field of Social and Cultural Education. This collaboration was established as a follow-up to the Memorandum of Understanding between the Universitas Sumatra Utara and the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia that had been established previously. On this occasion, the signing of the MoA was carried out by the Executive of the Social and Cultural Education Function (Pensosbud) of the Consulate General, Mr. Mohamad Rizali Noor, and witnessed directly by the Deputy Dean III of FEB USU, Paidi, S.E., M.Si., on Monday (26/09) at the Consulate General Hall in Johor Bahru, Malaysia.
The cooperation between FEB USU and KJRI Johor Bahru is focused on the implementation of the tridharma of higher education. As a form of implementation, FEB USU will carry out service activities as stated in the Implementation Arrangement (IA) and involve four study programs, namely Accounting, Development Economics, Entrepreneurship and Management.
"We still see many Indonesian children who need special attention in neighboring countries. This service that we do is a form of concern to further empower and support the activities of Indonesian children in neighboring countries", said Mr. Paidi, S.E., M.Si in his speech. On this occasion, the Head of the Consulate General in Johor Bahru, Mr. Sigit Suryantoro Widiyanto, expressed his hope that this collaboration could be realized to support the education of Indonesian children. "We facilitate elementary school education up to junior high school level. We hope that the education can continue to high school or university through scholarship programs that are willing to accept them."
The activity was accompanied by two performances by students of Sekolah Indonesia Johor Bahru (SIJB) under the auspices of the Consulate General in the form of songs and poems with the title of thanks to the Universitas Sumatra Utara and teachers who became a lamp in the dark and led to the gate of knowledge.
