The Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FEB USU), organized a Socialization and Introduction event for the Bachelor’s Program in Islamic Economics on Tuesday, 9 December 2025, held at the Prof. Dr. Suhadji Hadibroto Hall, FEB USU. This activity constituted part of FEB USU’s strategic efforts to broaden the dissemination of academic information to prospective students and to strengthen collaboration with schools and educational tutoring institutions in the city of Medan.
The event was attended by representatives from 67 schools, including senior high schools (SMA), vocational high schools (SMK), Islamic senior high schools (MA), and Islamic boarding schools (pesantren), as well as five tutoring institutions, one of which was Bimbel Adzkia. The high level of participation reflected strong enthusiasm and interest from educational institutions and tutoring centers regarding the development of new study programs and higher education opportunities at FEB USU, particularly in the field of Islamic economics and business, which continues to experience significant growth.
The program was officially opened by the Vice Dean I of FEB USU, Dr. Amlys Syahputra Silalahi, SE., M.Si, who, in his opening remarks, emphasized FEB USU’s commitment to offering study programs that are responsive to societal needs and advancements in knowledge. This opening marked the commencement of a series of socialization sessions aimed at providing participants with comprehensive information on student admission pathways at Universitas Sumatera Utara, available scholarship opportunities for FEB USU students, an overview of the Bachelor’s Program in Islamic Economics, and the career prospects of its graduates.
The event proceeded in an orderly and interactive manner under the guidance of the Master of Ceremony, Sukma Hayati Hakim, SE., M.Si, a lecturer in the Bachelor’s Program in Development Economics at FEB USU. During the main session, three key presentations were delivered. The first presentation on student admission pathways was delivered by Deny Mahyudi, Head of Educational Administrative Staff at FEB USU, who explained the general mechanisms and selection routes for prospective students. The second presentation addressed scholarship opportunities at Universitas Sumatera Utara and was delivered by Widya Sartika Hasibuan, SE., M.Ec, a lecturer in the Bachelor’s Program in Islamic Economics at FEB USU, outlining various scholarship schemes and financial support opportunities available to students. The third presentation, also delivered by Widya Sartika Hasibuan, SE., M.Ec, focused on an in-depth introduction to the Bachelor’s Program in Islamic Economics, including its academic scope, curriculum development direction, graduate competencies, and career prospects in the Islamic economic and financial sectors, the halal industry, financial institutions, and sharia-based entrepreneurship.
Through this activity, FEB USU expects that participants—particularly representatives of schools and tutoring institutions—will gain comprehensive information that can serve as a reference in guiding students regarding their options for higher education. This socialization program also served as a means of strengthening partnerships between FEB USU and educational institutions as strategic partners in supporting the improvement of educational quality and access to higher education information in North Sumatra.
FEB USU extends its appreciation and sincere gratitude to all representatives of schools, Islamic boarding schools, and tutoring institutions who attended and actively participated in this event. Moving forward, FEB USU will continue to develop sustainable academic socialization and promotion activities as part of its efforts to expand communication with the wider community and to reinforce FEB USU’s contribution to the development of economics and business education that is relevant to contemporary needs.
