Medan, July 16, 2026 – The Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), successfully hosted the Basic Workshop on the Use of the USU Learning Management System (LMS), organized by the Directorate of Digital Learning (Direktorat Digitalisasi Pembelajaran). The workshop is part of the university's ongoing commitment to strengthening digital transformation in higher education while enhancing faculty members' competencies in utilizing educational technology to support effective teaching and learning.

The workshop was attended by lecturers from various academic departments within FEB USU. During the program, participants gained comprehensive knowledge of managing digital classrooms through the USU LMS platform (kelas.usu.ac.id), including creating online course spaces, uploading Course Learning Plans (RPS), teaching materials, and developing digital assessment instruments. In addition to theoretical sessions, participants engaged in hands-on practice, enabling them to effectively implement the LMS features in their teaching activities.

This initiative reflects Universitas Sumatera Utara's strong commitment to advancing technology-enhanced learning and fostering innovation in higher education. By optimizing the use of the LMS, the university aims to create a more interactive, well-documented, and accessible learning environment that supports both lecturers and students through flexible and integrated digital learning experiences.

For FEB USU, the implementation of the LMS extends beyond the digitalization of academic administration. It serves as a strategic tool for improving the quality of students' learning experiences by facilitating systematic course delivery, continuous monitoring of learning outcomes, and stronger academic engagement between lecturers and students through both synchronous and asynchronous learning approaches.

The workshop also demonstrates Universitas Sumatera Utara's commitment to supporting the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly:

  • SDG 4 – Quality Education, by enhancing lecturers' digital competencies to deliver inclusive, equitable, and high-quality education through technology-enabled learning.
  • SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals, through collaboration between the Directorate of Digital Learning and all faculties and the Graduate School in developing a sustainable and integrated digital education ecosystem.

Through this workshop, FEB USU reaffirms its commitment to continuously improving the capacity of its academic staff, fostering a culture of digital learning, and supporting Universitas Sumatera Utara's vision of becoming a globally competitive and internationally recognized university. The effective implementation of the Learning Management System is expected to create a more adaptive, innovative, and student-centered learning environment while preparing graduates with the competencies needed to thrive in the digital era.
