The Faculty of Economics and Business of the Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), in collaboration with the Directorate General of Financing and Risk Management (DJPPR) and the Directorate of Sharia Financing, Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenkeu), successfully held an educational and socialization activity themed "The Role of Sharia Finance and Creative Financing in Building the Country". The event took place at Prof. Dr. Suhadji Hadibroto Hall and was attended by lecturers from various universities in Medan.
The event started at 8 AM and aimed to provide a deeper understanding of the importance of Islamic finance and creative financing in supporting national economic development. The event also highlighted how Islamic financial instruments can support the development of the creative sector and local economy.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Fadli, SE, M.Si., Dean of USU's Faculty of Economics and Business, emphasized that academics' active participation in advancing Islamic finance is essential to strengthening the foundation of an inclusive and sustainable economy. The keynote speaker was Mr. Tony Prianto, SE, M.Bus, the Director of Sharia Financing of the DJPPR of the Ministry of Finance.
Other speakers came from institutions related to Islamic finance and creative financings such as Mrs. Yosita Nur Widayanti, MBA, MIFP as Head of the Sharia Banking Division of the National Committee for Sharia Economics and Finance (KNEKS), Mr. Deri Firmansyah SP.i, MBA as DSM Guidance and Consultation of PT Penjaminan Infrastruktur Indonesia, Mrs. Ir. Tati Febriyanti, MSI, AAIK, FIIS, AAK, CIIB, QRGP as President Director of PT Reasuransi Syariah Indonesia, Mr. Subhan Noor, S.T., M.A. as Head of Investor Relations sub-directorate of DJPPR, and Mr. Suharianto, SE, Ak, M.M., CA as Head of sub-directorate of Financial & Market Analysis of State Sharia Securities of DJPPR. The panel discussion at this event also underlined the important role of innovation in creative financing, which can be a solution to the various challenges faced by the creative economy sector in Indonesia.
The event is expected to enhance participants' understanding of the benefits of Islamic finance and creative financing and encourage collaboration between the academic sector, government and industry in advancing national economic development.
