The Accounting Study Program of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FEB USU), continues to demonstrate its commitment to enhancing the academic capacity of lecturers and researchers through the organization of a Bibliometric Workshop titled “Bibliometric Analysis Mastery: Techniques, Tools, and Applications for Researchers.” The event was held on September 23–24, 2024, at the Faculty Meeting Room of FEB USU.
The workshop featured an international speaker, Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Aidi Ahmi from the Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz School of Accountancy, Universiti Utara Malaysia, who is widely recognized for his expertise in bibliometrics, research data analysis, and reputable scientific publications. His presence provided participants with comprehensive insights into techniques, methods, and the application of various bibliometric analysis tools in academic research.
This activity was designed as an interactive learning forum for lecturers, researchers, and academics seeking to deepen their understanding of bibliometric analysis—a quantitative approach used to examine trends in scientific publications, research collaboration patterns, and the development of specific fields based on academic literature data. During the workshop, participants were introduced to a range of analytical techniques, supporting software tools, and strategies for utilizing bibliometrics to enhance the quality and impact of scientific research.
In addition to theoretical and conceptual discussions, the workshop also included hands-on sessions, enabling participants to directly apply bibliometric analysis tools in processing scientific publication data. This ensured that participants not only gained conceptual understanding but also developed practical technical skills applicable to research and academic publishing.
The organization of this workshop reflects the Accounting Study Program FEB USU’s ongoing efforts to improve the quality of research and scientific publications within the academic community, while also strengthening international collaboration with higher education institutions in the region. Through this initiative, lecturers and researchers are expected to become more adaptive to the advancement of modern research methodologies and capable of producing impactful scholarly work.
This workshop also aligns with the spirit of academic excellence transformation and supports the implementation of the Merdeka Belajar – Kampus Merdeka program, which promotes a collaborative, innovative, and research-oriented higher education ecosystem.
