Commemorating the 61st Anniversary of the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) held a scientific oration. The celebration of the 61st Anniversary of FEB USU with the theme "Collaboration Towards Internationalization" took place on Friday, November 25, 2022 at the Prof. Dr. Suhadji Hadibroto Hall of FEB USU.
Vice Rector IV for Information, Planning, and Development Prof. Dr. Opim Salim Sitompul, M.Sc, said that with a long age span, FEB USU is one of the favorite faculties and majors that are popular and in demand by many people. And it is expected to become a leading institution in its field and a reference for science and technology and innovation in the economic and business fields.
"Why is science and technology needed? Because to run the economy and business, sophisticated technology is needed," he said.
Prof. Opim said that for 61 years, FEB USU has proven to produce the best graduates in their fields, and can see the existence of a number of practitioners both in the national and international regions with this, the community can always trust FEB USU as a faculty of interest, and FEB USU can continue to accelerate its movements and steps to build programs that support sustainable development in synergy with stakeholders, industry, business, and policy makers.
"Which will later be useful for FEB students to find jobs, because now everyone is competing to be able to work in a good industrial world," he concluded.
Dean of FEB USU Dr. Fadli, SE, M Si. said that to interpret the 61st Anniversary adopting the theme of the university for internationalization, namely collaboration towards internationalization, so that Human Resources (HR) at FEB USU must be improved, especially young lecturers, and to answer the problems of human resources, FEB created a program, namely the future development program, where young lecturers must continue their S3 studies abroad.
This is not only to increase knowledge but to establish networking as encouraged by the Rector of the University of North Sumatra, Dr. Muryanto Amin., S.Sos., M.Si.
"The Rector is doing a lot of cooperation both domestically and abroad, yes, we as part of USU, help the program that the Rector runs," concluded the Dean of FEB USU.
The Dean of FEB also said that after the success of improving facilities and infrastructure in the FEB environment, the next step would be to pursue a program in the field of human resources, because of competent and dynamic human resources. then the students produced will be more competitive in the world of work.
"It is hoped that FEB can collaborate not only internally but also externally to produce innovative products," he said.
The Chairman of the Anniversary Committee, Windi Astuti, S.E., M.Si. said that the theme of collaboration towards internationalization is a form of FEB's support for the university to reach 500 World Class Universities.
"I hope that in the future FEB USU will be more able and more successful," he said.
The series of anniversary events began with a scientific oration, and on Saturday-Sunday (November 26-27, 2022) there were also competitions, fun walks, and bazaars.
